Climate and Ocean: Quantifying coastal and marine tourism and protecting destinations
This Key Findings report developed by WTTC, Iberostar Group and Oxford Economics presents a financing guide for investment required to mitigate and adapt against climate threats posed to coastal destinations. The report features analysis of coastal and marine tourism’s contribution to the global economy, and the environmental footprint it leaves. Direct and indirect activities (supply chain) are calculated in terms of GDP contribution, jobs and GHG emissions. These calculations are used to inform and guide the investment cost of mitigation and adaptation in line with the Paris targets.
This Key Findings presents a range of focus areas and recommendations on how the sector can reduce emissions, and adapt to climate threats.
